Misogyny perpetuates harmful stereotypes about masculinity, and pressuring men to conform to rigid ideals of dominance and emotional suppression. Making it difficult for men to express their emotions and discouraging men from seeking help or mental health support (Murphy, 2025). In addition, misogyny discourages men or in many ways prevent men from having healthy and respectful relationships and more. As we know, men make up 80% of all suicides in America and die by suicide 4 times higher than females. Many of these suicides are as a result of men buying into misogynistic beliefs and immature masculinity.
Research suggests males who strongly buy into the misogyny beliefs and masculine norms are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and have difficulty getting the help they need.
